The gear alone will guarantee people will take one look at you and wonder what on earth you are doing. After that question gets answered they’ll launch into what does your gear do?

Hey it’s all pretty bizarre looking stuff when you first see it. The board alone looks like someone took the wheels off a skateboard, and the kite, well people think you’re going to fly that thing but don’t see quite how that is going to happen. Fun, it’s pure fun for all.

Kitesurfing

Whether or not you want to get into kite boarding will be a strictly personal decision, but isn’t there this little spark of adventure simmering in the back of your mind that says “GO FOR IT?” Sure there is, and you know in your heart of hearts you will give it a good run for the money.

Kite Surfing Holidays

Kite boarding isn’t like water skiing, although it is similar in that what pulls you through the water is the brightly colored kite high above floating on the cross currents of a stiff wind. As you might imagine, getting a constant pull from the breeze is a bit like trying to herd cats.

Part of the great fun of kite boarding is learning how to adapt to the prevailing conditions. This means working on your kite boarding skills, and that will indeed take some practice. You see kite boarding and steering that kite is a bit like trying to steer a large bull into a pen. You’d best be quick and agile and have a good command of your hands and feet.

Kitesurfing School

There have been some monumental advances in kite technology since this sport got rolling, so dealing with changing wind speeds and getting a good grasp of the basics is even easier than it used to be. So, suit up me pretties and get ready for the time of your life.

Also just to paint the full picture here… from loving all types of sport including mountain biking and downhill involving crazy speeds jumping over logs and flying down mountain sides the fun and excitement was unrivaled by any other sport. That was until I go interested into Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Now, after all the fun I’ve had with these two incredibly addictive sports, Kiteboarding which involves fighting the waves and soaring into the air above waves on gorgeous beaches could very well become my third great sporting love… time will tell!

One of the perpetual favorite places to escape from the daily grind, is the vast and diverse state of California. This state is always on the top of family fun spots because there are so many places to go, and so much to see and do. California has tourist attractions that appeal to all different ages and preferences, and as a bonus, the weather is usually quite nice throughout the year.

No matter whether the family is interested in activities in the cities of California and the big theme parks that are so plentiful, or they are more inclined to enjoy the breathtaking mountains, the lush and ancient forests, or the miles and miles of beautiful beaches, there is no doubt that there are enough tourist destinations to provide many options.

tourist destinations
In fact, vacationing in California will probably mean that there will be much more to see than most families will have time to visit, so there’s not much chance of boredom being a problem during a family vacation in this state.

Most of the time when families start talking about a vacation to California, everyone gets excited about the big tourist attractions that everyone knows about, such as Universal Studios, Disneyland, Sea World, Magic Mountain and Knott’s Berry Farm. But in addition to these major sights, one shouldn’t overlook some of the lesser known, slightly quirky attractions.

cheap hotels
For instance, one of the attractions near San Francisco, which is gaining a surprising following, is the Museum of Pez Memorabilia. Yes, that’s right; the little Pez candy dispenser everyone remembers from their youth has been honored with its very own museum. The museum contains not only the officially released Pez dispensers made by the company itself, but also features a collection of some “fantasy Pez dispensers” that have been produced by an “underground” market.

Including some of these off-the-beaten paths, quirky kinds of attractions in the family vacation plans will help make the overall trip even more memorable and fun as well. It’s probably a good bet that your child will be the only one in their class to report that they visited the Pez museum during their vacation travel.

While in the San Francisco area, there are many wonderful sights that should not be missed. The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the world’s most popular attractions, and for good reason. In addition, no visit to San Francisco should be considered complete without a stop by the historic and popular Fisherman’s Wharf or Alcatraz.

vacation ideas
Within a couple hours drive of the Bay Area, the Napa Valley awaits visitors with an array of tourist spots all its own. With vineyards to explore, wine tasting, fine gourmet restaurants to delight in, and plush boutique hotels to luxuriate in, it is no wonder why the quaint small towns of the Napa Valley are some of the most popular tourist destinations anywhere in the states.

One of the best ways to enjoy great family Vacation Rentals is to shop for discount vacation packages, which include the California tourist attractions that your family is most interested in seeing. Often families get to enjoy cheap vacations that give them some extra money to spend on buying souvenirs and seeing additional sights because of these package deals.

If you are staying at a Casares Del Sol Apartment on the Costa Del Sol you it is well advised that you visit the area of Manilva. Better known as a municipality, containing Sabinillas, El Castillo, Manilva, Hondacavada and El Puerto de la Duquesa, it runs parallel to| the coast. It is a very rural area and in the 16th century vineyards dominated the landscape. Nowadays lots more fruit and vegetables are grown. Steeped in history its location near to Straits of Gibralter has meant that practically every invader has passed through. As was commonplace wherever they went it is was the Romans who left most evidence of their occupation.

To name but a few Roman influences in the area are the Roman villa of Sabinillas, the ruins of what apparently was a tower on the El Hacho hill, and some ceramics at Haza del Casare?o.

Today Manilva is a vibrant developing town filled with typical Spanish charm but developing quite rapidly to cater for the tourist. There is an abundance of restaurants and bars to suit all tastes and pockets.

The area has many excellent golf courses, Finca Cortesin, home of the Volvo Masters commencing 2009 is right next door to Casares Del Sol, with Casaes Golf just over the road and Duquesa Golf and Country Club, Estapona Golf Club and Donna Julia Golf club being all being only a short drive away form the complex.

Well worthy of a quick tour is Duquesa Castle, built in 1767, during the reign of Carlos III. Named after Duquesa de Arcos, wife of D. Lu?s Crist?bal Ponce de Le?n, master of the lands in Casares. The castle was constructed on existing foundations laid down in Roman times with sloping walls on the outside of which there are loopholes for riflemen. For defence the fortress had a battery of 4 x 24. The castle’s garrison consisted of 25 infantry, 10 cavalry and 10 artillerymen plus their respective officers. During the early years of the 19th century, at the time of the Peninsular War, the castle was taken and held by the French for a time, and was manned by 50 French troops who used the Castle to control the main coastal road.

Near by, Las Palmeras is a brand new development, which is situated in an elevated position at the rear of Calahonda giving magnificent views over rural areas to the sea. There are a wide varieties of different types and sizes of rental properties available in Las Palmeras. These range from 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms apartments (sleeping 6 persons), to 3 bed roomed penthouses. There are a number of swimming pools for use. The apartments are of a very generous proportion being approx 110sm internally and having balconies of 42.5sm.

There are plenty of suitable Villas in Costa Del Sol in which to stay to tour the area, choose from Casaras, Calahonda, Mijas Costa, Benahavis or Benalmadena.

Exploring Spain’s Costa Del Sol In A Car

Over the entire Costa Del Sol region there is plenty of choice in Costa Del Sol Apartments and for a good choice look no further than a Casares Villa. But what is there to when you are there?

The best way to get around the area is by hire car, as this allows you the freedom to visit the different towns and villages as and when you desire, without needing to rely on public transport.

Here is some pointers to just a few of the cultural and historical attractions surrounding Costa del Sol that you can explore during your holiday:

The city of Malaga should be the first call for any culture lover on a holiday on the Costa del Sol. Pablo Picasso was born in Malaga in 1881 and you can visit the house in which he was born, the Casa Natal de Picasso, which is sited in the Plaza del Merced. The three-storey building contains personal items belonging to the Picasso family together with samples of Picasso’s prints, ceramics and graphic art. There is also a large collection of works by more contemporary artists.

A few minutes walk from the Casa Natal de Picasso is the Museo Picasso M?laga (Picasso Museum), opened in 2003. It is housed in the 16th century Palacio de Buenavista and has a dozen permanent exhibition galleries where you can view paintings, drawings, sculptures and ceramics by Picasso. The museum also holds regular temporary exhibitions. If you’re a history buff, you’ll also be in for a treat on the lower ground floor, as you’ll be able to see the preserved Roman and Phoenician ruins uncovered when the museum was being built.

Other Costa del Sol attractions that you can view if you stop off in Malaga during your Costa del Sol holiday include Malaga’s historic fortress, the Alcazaba, and the 14th century Gibralfaro Castle.

If architecture is your interest, ensure that you allow time to visit Fuengirola. Getting around Costa del sol is easy if you try car hiring and Fuengirola and is about 30 minutes’ drive from Malaga and has a rich history.

Over the centuries it has been lived in by the Romans, Phoenicians, Carthaginians and Arabs and its architecture displays many influences and archaeologists have uncovered some fascinating ruins and artefacts there. The Roman sculpture known as “Venus of Fuengirola” is the most famous artefact to have been discovered in Fuengirola. You can visit this, along with many other artefacts, in the town’s Museo de Historia (Museum of History).

You can also use a Costa del Sol hire car to get to the edge of the town to visit the Castillo de Sohail. This now restored castle dates back to the 11th century and is open to the public. It is also used as a location for theatrical performances and festivals.

Most people who go on holiday, especially breaks by the beach in places like Spain, Portugal and France often end up staying in hotels and whilst I have nothing against them, there are plenty of other alternatives.

If you are planning a holiday with a group of friends or with your family, renting a villa can be an excellent idea.

You rent most villas on a weekly basis and when you first look at the price, it can often seem to be a little expensive. What you must remember is that you will be renting what effectively is a whole house and not just a room.

So if you are going on holiday as a family or with a group of friends it can actually work out to be really good value for money.

The most obvious advantage of a villa over a hotel is space, they are usually pretty big houses, this can be a real advantage especially if you have children, giving everyone space to relax and when needed, space to get away and enjoy some time alone and space to entertain.

When you are renting an apartment in Lanzarote there are lots to see and do, not just the beaches and Timanfaya National Park.

The island is easy to get around whether in a hire car or in organized tours. Take your pick!

There is a restored white windmill to visit within the gardens, which includes the site’s caf? for a welcome refreshment or snack.

The crater has been half erroded by the sea, hence not being visibly chopped, and filled with sea water that has filtered through the black sand that keeps the sea from the crater.

The water in the crater has formed a green lagoon, which is the result of the algae thriving in the water and it contrasts spectacularly with the surrounding black sand.

These are a complex of underground caves that were formed in the lava some 3,000 years ago and served as shelter to the original population when the pirates of old came stealing.

You only get to view it by visiting the cave and I’m not about to tell you now!

Puerto Del Carmen is roughly centrally along the southern coast of Lanzarote, only around a ten minute trip from the island’s airport in Arrecife.

Puerto Del Carmen began as a small fishing village and the old harbor remains for visitors to experience and visit the many seafood restaurants. It now encompasses around 6km of beaches, including wide beach expanses and small coves.

There are many scuba diving schools in Puerto Del Carmen for both the learner, the experienced and those wanting to further their diving careers. Both PADI and BSAC are generally accepted and English is spoken at many diving schools. Most schools use the same small bay from which shore entries and harbor entries are available on a range of dives, including a reef with Pink Coral. Motoring further out are the Los Erizos wrecks at a depth of around 60 feet. A collection of boats sunk to create an artificial reef for divers to explore just outside of the harbor entrance.

If you fancy seeing the different types of sea-life on offer, but don’t want to enter the water, there is always the yellow submarine tour, which also visits the wrecks. Keep an eye out for the divers watching the submarines go by… There are also cycle hire stores in the main shopping area and a new golf course under construction on the out skirts of the town.

With Lanzarote’s strict planning regulations there are no high rise buildings in the resort. Finding Puerto Del Carmen villas to rent is commonplace and there are an excellent choice of villas available.

Olvera is often announced as the ‘best of the white towns’. At 1200 inhabitants it is larger than the majority of pueblos. Olvera is really in Cadiz Province but if staying at a Casares Del Sol Villa it is reachable for a very special day out.

The pueblo has the traditional Spanish much loved white washed houses, steep narrow streets, churches and castle. It has more than enough for the holiday visitor. Visit in August and the visitor will be treated to the local fair which is renowned for being the most lavish in the region. It lasts for some 5 nights, finishing at approximately 5am, singing and dancing, side shows, stalls - it has the lot! In the daytime the visitor can expect to be treated to football matches, clay-pigeon contests and novice bullfights to name but a few.

How Olvera managed to get its name is a bit of a mystery. Some say it is very simply to do with the number of olive trees in the area. Giving perhaps some credence to this theory is the fact olive oil is one of the area’s main agricultural exports. Indeed it might be that simple but others say it is to do with its Arabic history when it was called ‘Wupira’. The castle was part of Granada’s line of defence. In 1327 the pueblo was conquered by Alfonso XI.

Wherever it got its name from the pueblo is most certainly steeped in history and there has been a pueblo in its location for some 12 thousand years.

In 1983 Olvera was declared officially to be of Artistic and Historical buildings. This is a giant leap however from the 19th century when the pueblo was the home of outlaws and murderers! Being such a good place to take refuge from the law a famous regional saying emerged into folklore ‘Kill your man and flee to Olvera!’ Thankfully those days have long gone.

The pueblo is seen these days by many to be of great religious significance. A monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus perched on a natural outcrop is the focus. Many a believer has crawled on hands and knees in pilgrimage. It is to do with the vow to the popular sanctuary of the Hermitage Church of “Nuestra Se?ora de los Remedios” (Our lady of the Remedies). The sanctuary is situated just over a mile from Olvera on the road to Torre Alh?quime. This is a unique building and well worth the visit.

Also worth a visit is the Iglesia de la Encarnaci?n church. The church in fact hides one of the best small museums in the region.

A tourist attraction not to be missed if at all possible is the 24 mile ruta verde. This is a route along a disused railway line which links Olvera to Puerto Serrano. Very simply this is an incomplete railway line and is today seen as one of the best walking experiences in Andaluc?a.

There are plenty of suitable Costa Del Sol Apartments in which to stay to tour the area, select from Caseras, Calahonda, Mijas Costa, Benahavis or Benalmadena.

Those who love fun vacations have no shortage of options for great family trips, both throughout the US and abroad. You will easily find recreational activities that everyone will love. However, for the fishing enthusiast, nothing beats an expedition on the spell-binding Alaskan waters.

If you want to go rainbow trout fishing, Alaska is the place to be. With its pristine wilderness and seemingly untouched waters, the fish are available in abundance.

But, before you plan your next or first fishing trip to the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness, keep reading for some tips and tricks that will help your fishing expedition go a little smoother.

Be Aware of Your Fishing Seasons

Rainbow trout season in Alaska runs from June 15 to Oct 31 - however where the trout are running depends on the year and the river you select. For more information, you can ask your guide to help you find the best trout fishing spots, or you can consult the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

Have a Guide

Having a guide is not only safe, but it’s also smart. This is a person who can help you find the best spots for fishing, assist in navigating the waters and river systems of Alaska and give you helpful tips and tricks on rainbow trout fishing. Alaska fishing guides and lodges are everywhere, but choosing the right one can be critical for your overall experience.

Ideally, you want a guide who provides you with equipment, safety gear, accommodations, supplies and experience. Some recommended and locally respected companies include Puffin Alaska Fishing Charters, Alaska NW Charters, and Alaska Outdoor Adventures.

While researching prospective guides online is a great idea, you should always call the person or lodge and speak to them directly before you book. You’ll likely be committing several days in a boat with this individual, so you want to make sure you get a positive vibe and a sense that the person meshes with your fishing personality.

Get Your License

Typically, most guides will either arrange your license for you or possess a blanket license that covers you as a passenger of their boats. If you’re not heading out with a guide who does this, you’ll need to purchase your own license from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. You can buy it online and should expect to pay $55 for a weeklong license or $145 for yearly access to the Alaskan waters.

In addition to obtaining a license, you must follow several other state rules and regulations regarding sport fishing. For example, you can’t sell fish that were caught by sport fishing, nor can you export them unless they’re properly prepared for transport. You’re also limited in the type of equipment you can use. To review these regulations, contact the Fish and Game office directly or check out their website.

Pack Smart

Typically, your guide or lodge will supply you with your gear and equipment for fishing. However, you may have to bring your own waders or certain small supplies. Before you depart, you should ask your lodge or guide to supply you with a packing list that’s season specific. Regardless, when packing for Alaska, you need to be prepared for any weather system.

If you are looking for attractions to see when you have booked a Lanzarote apartment to help you escape from the beach, then starting with Timanfaya Volcano Park is a must and might be top of your list if it is your first visit to the island.

You are taken up to the top of the mountain, or drive in a hire car, to the car park at the visitor centre. The journey through the park is amazing. It is described as being a lunar scene and that is honestly the im pression that you do get as you watch fields of solidified volcanic lava that have been untouched since they were laid down. The area is now a protected park to help preserve this landscape.

When you reach the car park at the top of the visitor center there are plenty of uniformed guides to entertain you. They will show how a bucket of water poured down into a bore hole erupts seconds later as steam, heated ashtonishingly fast just by the temperature of the rocks below the ground. Another favorite trick is to push some brushwood into the rocks and then it is pulled out burning not long later. Again, this is just the heat of the rocks.

The visitor centre also houses a fairly unusual restaurant There are no powered ovens. Instead the food is cooked from the heat given off by a hole in the rocks. The demonstrations of the heat given off from the subterranean rocks are definitely varied!

There is also a guided coach tour from the visitor center that shows tourists a little more of the area and the rock formations. All of this makes Timanfaya, Fire Mountain, well worth a visit!

When you are renting a Lanzarote villa there are lots to see and do, as well as the beaches and Timanfaya National Park. The island is easy to tour whether in a hire car or in organized tours. Take your pick!

A favorite destination to visit, especially for my little girl, is the Cactus Garden, designed by local artist Cesar Manrique. There are a wide selection of cactus plants on show, well over a thousand species in fact, in this sunken display that can be sheltered from the hottest of the elements. There is also a restored white windmill to visit within the gardens, which also has the site’s caf? for a welcome refreshment or snack.

Also worth a sight seeing visit is El Golfo, a semi-circular volcanic crater. The crater has been half washed away by the sea, hence not being visibly chopped, and filled with sea water that has filtered through the black sand that keeps the sea from the crater. The water in the crater has formed a green lagoon, which is the result of the algae growing in the water and it contrasts spectacularly with the surrounding black sand.

Another favorite, and the destination of many coach tours, is the Cave of Los Verdes. These are a complex of underground caves that were created in the lava some 3,000 years ago and served as shelter to the early inhabitants when the pirates of old came invading. They are well worth a visit, even if only to find out the secret of Lanzarote. You only get to view it by visiting the cave and I’m not about to tell you now!

And get that vacation home!!

Finding the perfect holiday villa rental can become an exhausting search if you don’t first start with the basics. You first need to figure out exactly what you want in a holiday rental. Some people prefer a spacious place to stay for, while others prefer quaint and comfortable. Once you have established exactly what type of holiday rental you want, you can start your search by picking a location.

Location is important when trying to locate a discount holiday villa rental. Holiday villas vary greatly in price depending on where you go and when. If you can travel during the off-season, you are likely to find a better deal. Some great villa rentals are available at times you would least expect.

Holiday villas at locations whose focus is on the warm summer months can be found at a great discount during the winter months. There will still be a lot for you to enjoy, but you can do so with less crowds and for less expense.

Once you have decided on the location of your search next your need to set yourself a price scale. What are you prepared to pay for your perfect holiday villa rental? How much is the cost of living in the area you have chosen? You don’t want to put yourself in debt for a holiday.

Once you have decided your budget, stick to it. Your rental cost will just be one part of your total vacation cost, and you will want to make sure you have plenty of money left over to enjoy the rest of your trip.

When you have booked a villa in Lanzarote to help you escape from the beach, then witnessing Timanfaya Volcano Park is a must and may be top of your list if it is your first visit to the island.

It is described as being a lunar scene and that is honestly the impression that you do get as you gaze across fields of solidified volcanic lava that have been untouched since they were laid down. The area is now a protected park to help preserve this landscape.

Once you reach the car park at the top of the visitor center there are plenty of uniformed guides to entertain you. They will demonstrate how a bucket of water poured down into a bore hole erupts seconds later as steam, heated surprisingly fast just by the heat of the rocks below the ground. Another favorite show is to push some brushwood into the ground and then it is pulled out burning not long later.

There is also a guided coach tour from the visitor center that lets tourists see a little more of the area and the rock formations. All of this makes Timanfaya, Fire Mountain, worthy of a visit!

Costa Teguise can be found roughly centrally along the southern coast of Lanzarote, only around a twenty minute trip from the island’s airport in Arrecife. The island’s traditional capital of Teguise is only about ten minutes’ drive and is quiet, except during its weekly Sunday market, when many bargains and traditional items are to be discovered.

Costa Teguise was not originally a traditional village, but is a well built purpose built tourist resort. As such it is well laid out with shopping areas mingled around the various beaches and hotels. As with all of Lanzarote’s developments, there are no high rise building in sight and a large choice of hotels, villas and apartments.

Sea diving is possible from the one or two English speaking BSAC and PADI diving schools, but only really experience dives are carried out as the local playa, Playa Jabillo, at only fifteen feet deep is not sufficient for the majority of training. Most dive schools will run customers down to Puerto Del Carmen or for something totally different, along to the lava caves of Mala.

The main beach has wind surfing schools and a vast area of sandy beach with the usual amenities and a shopping centre behind it. The fortunate of the hotels in the central area have the benefit of direct beach access. The only currently completed golf course on the whole of Lanzarote is located near to Costa Teguise.

Finding Costa Teguise villas to rent is commonplace and there are an excellent choice of villas to choose from.

Or get yourself a vacation home

Is anything more luxurious than taking a cruise ships holiday? Traveling to exotic locations on a luxury ship, catching sun rays, and breathing the salty breezes can renew and replenish anyone, no matter how shopworn from the cares of work.

However, a cruise holiday requires planning in order to be the best it can be. Check out these tips to have a cruise experience you will remember.

So where do you start when planning a cruise holiday? First, what is your budget like? Do you need to hold down expenses? Then here are a few tips for economizing on your cruise holiday.

When scheduling your cruise holiday, you should be aware that there are off season and on season dates, and that you want to schedule your trip in the off season to get the best deal. What you may not know, however, is that cruise lines actually change prices a number of times throughout the year. Ask and find out when their absolute lowest season prices are. In addition, keep your plans somewhat flexible so that you can change ships at the last minute. Sometimes a ship is not filled to capacity, so the cruise line will sell the last few tickets at a real bargain. It is always to their advantage to sail filled to capacity because people on holiday spend money on souvenirs, drinks, etc. Use this knowledge to get a really great deal.

Where you cruise to on your holiday can make a big difference in your cost as well. If you pick a popular spot, you can travel cheaper than if you choose a less popular spot. Another consideration is whether you really care about those ports of call. If you just want to stay on the ocean liner and enjoy the luxuries, book a cruise that doesn’t stop anywhere. These “cruises to nowhere” are just as luxurious as the others but cost less.

To be safe on a cruise ships holiday, don’t take a lot of expensive equipment or jewelry with you. Make sure your passport, health insurance, and other papers are up to date. Be sure to ask about laws you may inadvertently be breaking when you get off the shore you are accustomed to. Laws in ports and even in the water can vary, and you sure don’t want a big hassle with a foreign law enforcement agency.

To travel lighter, find out about equipment that will be available on the ship. For instance, if the cruise line provides irons or hair dryers, you won’t need to pack yours. Also pack your own sample size shampoo, toothpaste, and other toiletries because these items will cost more in the gift shop. You should have access to laundry facilities on your cruise holiday, so you don’t have to take a huge amount of clothing.

Pick a wrinkle proof lightweight outfit for every two or three days and pick separates in colors that coordinate so you can get different looks. Be sure to pack a formal and or semi-formal outfit if you will be taking part in these sort of activities on your cruise holiday vacation.
